The arrangement, in one paragraph

MP DOBRA s.r.o., the publisher of this site, participates in an affiliate programme through which the vendor of TotalAV pays a commission when a reader opens the vendor's website from a link on avalonbase.online and goes on to purchase a subscription. The commission is paid by the vendor out of its own margin. You pay the vendor's ordinary price, exactly as you would if you had typed the vendor's address into your browser without ever seeing this site. There is no surcharge, no markup and no special pricing in either direction.

Which links are paid

Every link to the TotalAV website on this site is a paid affiliate link. They are marked in two ways on every page: each one carries a short note directly beside it stating that it is paid and who pays, and each is marked in the page's HTML with rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", which is the attribute search engines use to identify paid links. They open in a new tab, and the destination address is the vendor's own — it is visible in your browser's status bar before you follow it and is not routed through a redirect on this domain.

Links to Australian government bodies — the Australian Cyber Security Centre, Scamwatch, the eSafety Commissioner, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the ACCC — are not paid, are not affiliate links, and earn nothing. They appear because they are the authoritative source for what the page is describing.

What the commission pays for, and what it does not buy

Commission is the only revenue this site has. It funds the research, writing and hosting, and that is the honest reason a free site exists at all. Being clear about what it does not buy is the more important half:

• It does not buy a rating. No score, star rating or ranking is published anywhere on this site, for TotalAV or for anyone else.
• It does not buy a comparison. There is no table comparing named vendors, because a comparison produced by a publisher paid by one of them would not be evidence.
• It does not set the order of anything. There is no ordering of competing products to be influenced, since only one product is covered.
• It does not buy claims. Statements about the product are limited to what the vendor states about it. Pricing, feature availability, trial and renewal terms are deliberately not restated here, because they change and the vendor's own site is where they are current.
• It does not buy silence. The guides on this site say plainly that many readers may not need to buy anything, that the platforms' own free protections do the structural work, and that conventional virus scanning is not what an iPhone subscription delivers.

How coverage is actually decided

Since the commission cannot be allowed to decide what is said, something has to, and stating it is the point of this page.

Which product is covered by name is decided commercially: TotalAV is covered because there is an affiliate arrangement with its programme. That is the entire criterion, it is a narrow one, and this site does not dress it up as a market survey.

What the rest of the site says is decided by whether it is useful and whether it can be supported. Category explanations are written from how the platforms and the products work. Statements about Australian consumer rights, privacy obligations and reporting routes are linked to the body responsible for them, so you can check them rather than take our word. Claims that cannot be sourced are either phrased as general guidance or left out. No statistics, test results, awards or user testimonials are published, because none could be verified.

The working test applied to every page: if all the paid links were deleted, would the page still be worth reading? If not, it does not get published.

What you should take from this

Read this site as what it is: a category guide published by a company with one commercial relationship, which it has told you about three times — on the homepage, beside each link, and here.
